We have the Hookythings!
As with all unique names, there's a unique story behind it. Not everyone is a fisherman (I know, right?). We all have that hilarious friend. Long story short, my friend couldn't spell the word "lure."
After a little kidding, she later simply skipped trying using the word "lure" altogether. Instead, she said: "...you know, you know, the,.... HOOKYTHINGS!" Within minutes it was agreed that "hookythings.com" would be kind of a funny name for my lure website, if I ever started one.
Our lures are developed through trial and error, in the ponds and lakes of northern and central Vermont, as well as the salt water of Cape Cod. We make both fresh water and salt water lures. Our freshwater lures are targeting Large and Smallmouth Bass, as well as Northern Pike, Pickerel, Perch and Crappie. Our salt water lures are targeting Striped Bass, and Bluefish.
Our Fresh water lures are made from plastic lure blanks from various quality manufacturers (like Lure Parts Online and Predator Bass Baits). We paint them, epoxy and outfit them with quality components. Our salt water lures are made from unfinished wooden blank lure kits, primarily from Salty's. They get sanded, sealed, primed, painted, epoxied and constructed of solid components. Our products are made from seeing what works and what doesn't work, over years of fishing experience. We have a strong belief in producing a quality lure that we can be proud of and providing our customers a solid lure they can use and enjoy.
We aren't up and running yet, but if you buy one of our products, we want you to be happy about it. Drop us a line to let us know how it works out for you. Pictures are even better! We love to see what our lures are catching. We are always available to answer any questions, and try to put you in the best position to succeed using our lures. This site is currently under construction, so please be patient while we get it up and running. If you have questions, my email is edzovt@yahoo.com. More pics of lures will be added soon.
I'm a retired police officer who loves to fish. I live near Burlington, Vermont and I am on Cape Cod quite a lot in the summer. I do most of my fishing out of my 12' Jackson Coosa sit on top kayak. It's trailered and I take it all over northern and central Vermont looking for Large and Small mouth Bass. On Cape Cod, I am again taking the kayak to different places, exploring different areas to fish for Stripers (while trying not to become a lure myself for a Great White Shark!).
